Indian Billy Returns

July 4, 2026 · by: JnK Davis

On July 4, 2024, Carr Twins & Co. celebrated succession—the handing off of the company to the next generation.

That Independence Day marked a defining moment in our publishing story: a family company, a family vision, and a family inheritance entrusted to posterity.

Today, July 4, 2026, we celebrate one of the fruits of that succession.

Carr Twins & Co. announces the release of The Legendary Indian Billy Dragoo: Revised and Expanded
(Second Edition) by Vi Parsons.

The Legendary Indian Billy book cover shows a man on a horse on the banks of the river.

This is a day for fireworks, flags, family, memories, and the stories that still have the power to unite us. William “Indian Billy” Dragoo’s story belongs to that kind of day. Taken captive during a Shawnee raid in 1786, Billy returned to the settler world after nearly twenty years among Native communities. His life has become one of the most enduring accounts in Dragoo family history.

For more than two centuries, his story has continued to move through the family. Vi Parsons followed the records, listened to the legends, studied the claims, and gave the family a written account that has helped generations understand one of the most fascinating figures in the Dragoo line.

The revised and expanded second edition includes more than 175 unique sources, a comprehensive index of names with more than 200 surnames, a supplemental historical materials section, and numerous updated photographs and illustrations.

This July 4th release is a milestone.
It marks the continuation of Carr Twins & Co.’s publishing mission.
It marks the preservation of a treasured family-history work.
It marks the return of Indian Billy’s story to the hands of the family.
It marks the continuation of Carr Twins & Co.’s publishing mission.

And it marks a celebration of the inheritance handed down in names, records, photographs, family devotion, and a stubborn refusal to let Indian Billy’s story disappear.
