Homer Ewing Scurlock

Birth: 30 July 1903
Chouteau, Mayes, Oklahoma, USA
Death: Before 1920
Place: Unknown
Memorial Place: Ridge Haven Memorial Gardens
Jonesborough, Washington, Tennessee
Findagrave Memorial ID:

Homer Ewing Scurlock was the young son of Claud William Scurlock and Rosey Exile Carr Scurlock. His life appears only briefly in the surviving records, but briefly is still enough to tell us that he lived and that his name should be Re-membered.

Homer was born about 1903 in Oklahoma, during the early years of Claud and Rosey’s marriage. In 1910, he was living with his parents in Chouteau, Mayes County, Oklahoma. By 1918, the Scurlocks had moved to Arkansas, and by 1920 Homer was no longer listed with the household.

No confirmed death record has yet been found, and his exact date and place of death remain unknown.

His is one of those unspoken stories tucked deep into the family heart: a child who is present in one record and absent from the next. Yet, however brief his life, Homer was part of the Scurlock household.

Homer Ewing Scurlock’s life was short, and the records left only a small place for him. Ridge Haven makes that place larger. Here, his name is gathered back into the family garden, remembered as a child who lived, was loved, and is restored again to the family record.
