James Robert “Bob” Grimes was born 25 March 1926 in Katie, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a longtime resident of Fresno, California, where he was a manager and owner of Lakeside Golf Course. Bob also worked as an electrician, notably at the Diablo Canyon Power Plant in the 1970s. He was a sports enthusiast, an amateur golfer, an avid reader, and he loved to beat his grandkids at a game of gin rummy.
Bob is survived by the love of his life, Doris L Freshwater Grimes, whom he married in 1962. Although he had no biological children, he was a committed and loving father to three daughters and a grandfather to six. He is survived by two daughters, Victoria L Daniels of Mesa, Arizona and Michele E Davis of Yuba City, California, and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Victor “Earl” Grimes; mother, Margaret “Alyene” Roody; two brothers, William Earl Grimes and Joseph Kenneth Grimes; sister, Margaret “Marvena” Grimes; daughter Cynthia L Miller; and grandson John M Davis.
