Biography: Annie Mae Carr was born to John Ewing Carr and Nancy L. Dragoo Carr. She was their second child. Although she was stillborn, and her family never knew her, she remains in the hearts of her siblings and great nieces and nephews. It is not known if (or where) her remains are buried. Two handwritten entries appear in John Ewing Carr’s Bible indicating her birth and death occurred on the same day. No picture of Annie exists.
In late 2022, as the John Ewing Carr and Nancy Luetta Dragoo Carr family were gathered together on the Find a Grave Memorial Site, Annie Mae’s youngest sisters lamented that Annie could not be united with her family’s memorials. With the installation of her memorial at Ridge Haven, Annie could be added to Find A Grave.
On the memorial of Annie’s birth, 25 April 2023, her youngest sister, Violet Carr Moore placed virtual flowers on her memorial. She wrote: “Annie, my sister whose burial place is unknown, you rest in my heart.”
